Rangoli

Hello Friends ... I wish you all Happy Pongal..

Pongal is the most popular harvest festival of Tamilnadu. Pongal comes in mid-January every year and marks the beginning of Uttarayan, the Sun's movement northward for a six month period. Celebrations include painting entire house, drawing of kolam, cooking of delicious pongal....

Now you can guess what my part here is....?!? Of course I have started 2 draw kolam yesterday night itself. One with paint in pooja room, one with sunnambu(lime stone) paste in front door and another one with colour powders at front gate. Kolams are believed to bring prosperity to homes and not only meant for decoration purpose. So I love to draw kolam's especially rangoli. Because, I am not good in dotted kolam.

But the Celtic knot design(yellow paint), I have made with the help of dots, because the measurements should be equal in all lines. I got the Celtic Design from the link below

and did some changes.

Glass Paint on Plastic Sheet

This post is to wish all my friends, a prosperous and delightful 2012… I hope all your dreams come true on this New Year.

I did the glass paint on plastic sheet also known as OHP sheet. We can see this picture while enter in my room. I just painted using old waste glass liner and glass colors which I don’t want to throw out. So it wasn't results smooth lines.  So I didn't frame this picture rather just pasted on wall with cello tape. This background looks more cute than foil know…..?

Maybe adding some elements would make it more attractive. Yeah I mentioned about the butterfly which is made by stocking/Nylon material. This might be the next post.

Christmas Tree

Hi Friends…..

In this auspicious day I would like to wish all my friends a very merry Christmas… I’m here with a beautiful Christmas Tree. I’m going to show how to create your own wishing tree.

The procedure is the same as of Golden Tree.
You can learn from the post

The materials can be used are Green wires (instead of gold wires), Green leaves, Stars, Golden Bells, Muticolour sounded beads, Thermocol balls and whatever sequences you get, but it should be colourful enough to decorate your tree. It can be either jewels or some other type of accessories.

I have used 30 green wires to make this tree. An important thing is to reduce the number of branches gradually in each upper set to get this cone shape. I made a cherry bunch using thermocol balls. And attached a golden star on the top. You can Zoom the picture and see what and all i've used as ornaments.

Check out the wishing tree here

I have made this and gifted to my uncle 3 years ago. And i'm happy to share after so long, but in this Christmas day.

Corn Husk Doll

Hello Friends,
It's really nice to see you again... As I told in my previous post I came with another corn husk craft... Yeah! It’s none other than a doll......:)

Here is my Precious Doll..........
Corn Husk Doll

Cornhusk doll is also known as “faceless” doll.  And there is a story behind this doll has no face. Corn husk dolls are easy to make and fun to play with... Here I used corn silk tassel for her hair, rolled husk for arms and glass ball inside the head to bring spherical shape. Even the tiny roses also made from husks. Finally it is painted using maroon acrylic colour and used maroon lace to add some cuteness….:)  Though I like all my creations, this doll is somewhat precious.

One more thing I need to mention, most of the photos in my gallery won't be clear. They are taken from my mobile phone camera… so friends, don’t expect picture quality...!!!

Corn Husk Craft

    Hi friends....
After a long gap i'm back with a natural craft. Hope you all enjoy this as usual. Corn husks can be used to create a variety of toys like dolls, flowers, animals etc…  You can use husks from any corn like sweet corn, popcorn, field corn or Indian maize. Here is one of my corn husk craft. One more craft is going on , i'll post soon.

General instructions before start
1. Green husks should be dried thoroughly before using for this project as fresh husks shrink     significantly.
2.    Soak cornhusks in warm water for 10 minutes before making crafts or until it become soft and pliable.
      3.    Iron out, if u want to straighten.
      4.    If you want to colour your husk, there are two ways to colour.
·         Dye the husks
·         Use acrylic colours

Dyeing process:

1.    Choose a desired colour powdered dye.
2.    Mix powdered dye in warm water.
3.    Add a pinch of salt.
4.    Soak corn husk into this mixture until your desired colour has been achieved.( it will take 3-5 hours)
5.    Otherwise you can bring to boil the mixture at simmer to get immediate colour. But in this method, the rough texture on husk will become soften.

Hand made daisy flower with corn husk:

The texture of corn husk is very suitable to create any flower. i've tried my favourite daisy from  corn husk. It is a tedious task to make them as there is a lot of cutting required. But results rich look. It takes up a lot of time but it is worth the effort.

    Take a look .......

CROCHET

Hi friends,
I got bored of making crochet scarves, bags and kulla’s all the time. So I started try something different.

Yes! I tried Amigurumi dolls. Amigurumi (in japanese language) is nothing but crochetted, stuffed toys. Typical amigurumi animals or dolls have an over-sized spherical head on a cylindrical body with undersized extremities. These toys can be as simple or as complex as the maker likes. You can make any character using this technique. so many websites are there to teach you how to knit miniature amigurumi dolls.

I made this Geisha Doll recently. I hope you all enjoy this….

CLAY MODELING

Clay Modeling

Clay modeling is a very simple process and does not require any costly tools or material. Clay modeling allows you to think and give shape to your imaginations. Varieties of clay are available in market like, M-Seal, Polymer Clay, Different types of Dough like air drying, oven drying, and varieties of ceramics etc.

Materials used:
·         I used M-seal for my creations.
·        Acrylic colours
·        Gold and silver dust

How to do?
1.      Mix both resin base and hardner together nicely till get soft dough. (Use talcum powder while mixing, if it is sticky)
2.      Take required dough and make any shape u like.
3.       You have 2 take little by little 2 make tiny objects, because it will start dry in few mins.
4.      It’ll completely dry in 2-3 hours.
5.      Paint your sculpture with the colour of your choice.
6.      Otherwise, here is the tips for creating metallic effect
First paint the whole sculpture with black acrylic colour. Then tap golden and silver dust with sponge. But before the paint completely dries, you should tap the dust.
7.  Varnish the finished sculpture or apply glue n glass. It will become shiny and washable too.

Here is my flower basket made by M-seal.

This what i've mentioned as metallic effect. This is clay sculpture only, not metal......!

One more creation of the same metallic effect
